Flat prairie province. Heavy agriculture, road construction, emerging oil/gas recovery. Smaller market than AB/BC/ON but good opportunities.
Spring/Summer (April-September): Peak construction and ag work. Full-time, overtime available.
Fall (September-October): Harvest equipment, continued ag work.
Winter (November-March): Slow season. Limited work, possible lay-offs.
Saskatchewan is affordable. Rent: $900-1,200 in Regina/Saskatoon. Low cost relative to wages = strong savings opportunity.
Less unionized than AB/BC/ON. Many jobs are contract work (non-union). Benefits package less comprehensive than IUOE locals.
